How to Care for Your Candle (So It Lasts Longer and Burns Brighter!)

Candles are more than just a cozy vibe—they’re an experience. But to get the most out of your favorite candle, a little care goes a long way. Here are some tips to help your candle burn longer, cleaner, and stronger.

1. Trim the Wick
Before lighting your candle for the first time (and every time after), trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. This prevents the flame from getting too high and ensures a cleaner, longer burn. Plus, it’ll help avoid that pesky mushrooming on the wick.

2. Let It Burn Long Enough
When you light your candle, let it burn for at least 2-3 hours, or until the entire surface has melted into a smooth pool of wax. This prevents "tunneling" (when the candle burns down the middle, leaving wax on the sides) and ensures an even burn next time.

3. Keep It Away from Drafts
Place your candle in a spot where it won’t be disturbed by wind or drafts—like a breezy window or a fan. A steady, clean flame burns more evenly and reduces soot build-up.

4. Extinguish Safely
Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. Blowing it out can cause wax to splatter, while a snuffer keeps the wick in good shape and prevents smoke. For a quicker fix, just dip the wick into the melted wax with a wick dipper.

5. Store Properly
Keep candles out of direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. This helps preserve the scent. Store them upright, away from heat sources, and you'll enjoy their full fragrance every time.

With a little attention, your candle will glow longer and burn brighter—making your space a little more magical with every flicker. Happy lighting!
